A lot of people don’t think about buying the BEST mattresses. I bet some of you have mattresses that are old enough to vote. JURASSIC! Some usually just buy whatever’s available without looking into too many details about it. This leads to a lot of issues that you may encounter such as back problems, discomfort, and insomnia.

But what really makes a mattress to be considered the best? There are a lot of factors actually. Materials, motion isolation, cooling and pressure relief play into this.

Memory foams, latex foams, and coils… What are they? How do I know which one to choose? Let me explain that for you.

MEMORY FOAM… I think we all know that memory foam is the most common among mattresses. All-foam mattresses have been around a lot longer, and they’re considered traditional. They’re known for their pressure relieving features, and the ability to RETAIN HEAT. BUT, if you’re a HOT SLEEPER you may not like this mattress. Some memory foams have adapted to having cooling gels infused within them to avoid such issues.

If you’re looking for a more natural and ECO-FRIENDLY material, LATEX foams are for you. It provides proper pressure relief, and it’s firmer than memory foam. The material is much cooler and is highly responsive.

COILS are paired with either memory foam or latex foams making a HYBRID mattress. Hybrid mattresses are known for their nice balance of cushioning and firm support. The innerspring coils provide the main support. It’s also known to absorb motion transfer, perfect for couples with different sleep styles. And since they come with air gaps, hybrid coils are also known to promote AIRFLOW.

If you do the cha cha in your sleep, MOTION ISOLATION is a feature in mattresses where it absorbs movement to avoid any transfer in any areas. This is great for couples who have different sleep styles. Some couples tend to move around when they sleep, while others sleep like a dead body. It’s more important for them than someone who sleeps alone.

Most people look for mattresses that are BREATHABLE. Construction greatly affects how cool a mattress can be. For example, foams can retain heat. Coils have air gaps that promote airflow. Cooling features are catered to the hot sleepers. It’s not necessary, if you don’t sleep hot.

Pressure relief is how well a mattress can alleviate discomfort in certain areas of the body. Side sleepers look for softer mattresses to have ample pressure relief. Back sleepers and stomach sleepers need more support. Foam and latex mattress have the best pressure relief. Some mattresses have zoned support for specific targeted areas.

This is where the Helix Midnight Luxe comes in.

The Helix Midnight Luxe provides the ultimate comfort. This mattress builds on the original Helix Midnight but with PREMIUM UPGRADES. It has enhanced cooling, added plush, and extra support. This gives you a luxury feel. It offers zoned lumbar support for proper spinal alignment and to reduce pressure on your hips and shoulders.

It has 6 layers that includes the premium cooling pillow top, Helix Responsive foam, Copper Gel Memory foam, Transition layer, Zoned Body Shape layer, and DuraDense foam. You can also choose to upgrade to the GlacioTex Cooling cover for extra cooling and extra comfort. Another optional upgrade is the ErgoAlign Contour layer if you want additional support and pressure relief where you need it.

The materials in the Midnight Luxe also meet the strict GREENGUARD Gold and CertiPUR-US certification guidelines. This means that it’s free from harmful chemicals and safe for indoor air quality. We love that Helix is dedicated to keeping customers safe from toxic chemicals and allergies, don’t we?

The medium firmness is rated 5.5 out of 10. It has the perfect blend of soft and support. The pressure relief from the memory foam and zoned coil system adds cushion to the shoulders and hips and targeted areas. It evenly distributes weight to reduce discomfort.

The cooling technology of this mattress is top tier. The breathable TENCEL promotes airflow which is great for hot sleepers. The optional GlacioTex cover quickly pulls heat away from the body while you sleep. The Copper Gel Memory foam adds another layer of cooling and prevents heat buildup.

The Helix Midnight Luxe can handle 250-300 lbs per sleeper. It has a sturdy build that can support up to many body types. Want extra support? I believe the Helix Plus is great.

With all these premium materials, the price is quite… high. It starts at $1099 for a twin size, and $1899 for a queen. Affirm financing is available if you feel it’s too big of a one-time purchase. Honestly, the flexible payment option is a huge plus for me.

If you’re quite unsure, this mattress comes with a 100-night trial period where you can if it is really for you. The lifetime warranty will also put your mind at ease as the company aims for customer satisfaction.

Unlike the others, the Helix Midnight Luxe takes lesser time to off-gas so you can use your brand new mattress in no time.

And that’s it.

Overall, I really want to say that the Helix Midnight Luxe is considered the best overall mattress that you can buy. The pressure relief that it provides, its responsiveness, and lumbar support are AMAZING.

Its medium comfort level makes it perfect for most types of sleepers. But I definitely like the zoned coil support for back sleepers.

I know that all these amazing features come with a premium price which is not great for people on a budget, but trust me when I say that it’s TOTALLY WORTH IT with all the benefits that the Helix Midnight Luxe provides.

What do you guys think? I know that this may not cover everyone’s preferences so I would love to know your thoughts. Have you tried this mattress? Do you have a bias? What do you think the best mattress should be?
