Question 🙋🏻 Can someone explain what are slats on a bed? Do they matter?

Heyall. I keep seeing “slats” mentioned in mattress reviews and bed frame setups…can someone explain what exactly they are? Do I need them for every bed or just certain types? Total noob here, just trying to avoid messing up my setup

They’re basically the wooden or metal strips that go across your bed frame to hold up the mattress. Kinda like a mini support system.

Not every bed needs slats, but most newer ones use them instead of a box spring. Just make sure they’re not super far apart tho. I learned the hard way with my foam mattress. It started sagging way too fast
